Over a Decade in the Making
The Greenview Industrial Gateway (GIG) is a parcel of industrial land located about 40 kilometres south of Grande Prairie, Alberta. The Municipal District of Greenview has been planning the GIG since 2013, to diversify the regional economy and stabilize public revenue for current and future generations.
- 75.5square kilometres identified for industrial use
- 700+billioncubic metres of estimated natural gas reserves within a 7 kilometre radius
- 20+reports, plans, applications and assessments completed

Local Infrastructure Investment
The GIG is driving investment in infrastructure that strengthens the region’s capacity for growth and development. Greenview has invested $50 million to twin 20 kilometres of Highway 40, a major transportation route serving communities, industry and visitors throughout the region.
Sustainable Industrial Development
Greenview has planned the GIG as an eco-industrial site, with environmental work completed ahead of development.
Eco-Industrial District
In 2020 the MD of Greenview, the County of Grande Prairie and the City of Grande Prairie signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Province of Alberta for an Eco-Industrial District.
Studied Before Development
Greenview has completed a Species-at-Risk Inventory, a Historical Resources Impact Assessment, a Phase 1 Wetland Analysis and a Stormwater Management Report for the GIG. A Water Availability Assessment for the Smoky River has also been completed.
